Pollutants in our Food

  • Pcb's Found in farmed raised fish etc. can cause cancer and impaired fetal brain development.
  • Heavy Metals: Similar to food, water sources can be contaminated with heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, primarily through industrial discharge, mining activities, and aging infrastructure.
  • Microbial Contaminants: Waterborne pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites can cause gastrointestinal illnesses and other infections if water sources are not properly treated and sanitized.
  • Chemical Pollutants: Industrial chemicals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and other pollutants can leach into water sources from agricultural runoff, improper disposal, and wastewater treatment plants, posing risks to both human health and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Phalates - these chemicals are used to soften plastics - the result is endocrine system damage. Plastics chemically mimic hormones and are particularly dangerous to children.  Plastic wrap and food storage containers which are omnipresent leach phalates into our food and unsuspecting victims.
  • Pesticides - residue has been detected in 50-95% of US food. There are more than 1.055 substances used as pesticides in the U.S. Children can get exposed to pesticides in food, from products used in the house or on yards or parks (synthetic turf) and in water. Problems that can be caused by pesticide exposure include skin rashes, nerve damage (brain impairment) and cancer. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children have as little exposure to pesticides as possible.

Pollutant in our Air

  • Particulate Matter (PM): Fine particles suspended in the air, particularly PM2.5 and PM10, can penetrate deep into the respiratory system and cause various health problems, including respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): volatile organic compounds are major air pollutants. VOC - volatile organic compounds are major air pollutants. Major sources are carpets, paints, cleaning fluids, dry cleaned clothing, air fresheners and drinking water. The risks are cancer, headaches, memory and mental impairment to name a few.
  • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2): These gases are common pollutants emitted from vehicle exhaust, industrial processes, and power plants, contributing to respiratory problems and exacerbating conditions like asthma.

Health (mental and physical) and the use of pesticides.

It is interesting to note that the United States is only 2nd to China in its use of pesticides, fungicides and preservative use with our farming/food.

Could that be why the US ranks one of the 4 highest in mental ailments such as anxiety and depression?

By contrast Iceland has banned the use of chemicals and pesticides during the growth process and rely strictly on geothermal energy. Their crops are 100% organic. (They even introduce insects into their greenhouses to manage pests naturallly.)

Could that be the reason, according to Bloomberg, they are the number 1 country in the world for mental and physical health?
